“A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove...but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.”
Hi! My friends call me Reesie. You’ve probably seen this poem before. My son gave it to me on a mug for Christmas, and I have treasured it ever since. At the time he was a junior in high school and his sister was a freshman.
“Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts.” (A sign in Einstein’s Princeton office)
Life was happening pretty fast and my kids weren’t waiting to grow up. I began to feel a desperation to make a life-long dream come true before they left home. You know, as a parent, that list of things that you feel responsible for passing on to your
children? Well for me, TRAVEL was near the top of my list. I was quickly running out of time!
Even if we just drove somewhere, I just couldn’t afford the hotel and restaurant food -- my son was 6’4” with holes in his feet where the food ran out seemingly as quickly as he put it in! I searched and searched for a way, then I finally did something everything & everyone told me not to do. I did my homework, and...
I bought a timeshare!
We’ve never looked back. It literally changed our lives. We started going on at least one first class dirt cheap vacation every year! (Skip the high pressure sales presentation. I’m happy to share what we’ve learned.)
Since then, we’ve also figured out quite a few other tricks to go on a first class dirt cheap vacation every time. I’ll happily share those, too!
Oh, and my kids? My son lived in France for two years and traveled all over Europe while he worked on his Business Management degree online. He is business fluent in Spanish and is quickly learning French. My daughter just graduated in International Relations & Global Affairs, with a second degree in Spanish. She has traveled to Costa Rica & Uruguay and is getting ready to travel the whole of Latin America for a year.
Ask me now if I didn’t make a priceless decision!
What more can I possibly ask for?
...and me? Well, I found the man of my dreams, and had a fairy tale wedding & honeymoon in Sri Lanka.
We now traipse between breathtakeing Vancouver, British Columbia, charming Blaine, WA, idyllic Paonia, CO and the rhythm heart & soul of the world -- New Orleans, LA.
And of course, travel is still top on our list! Our goal is to spend two months a year in other countries, and enjoy a weekend getaway at least once a month. We'll never settle for less than a first class dirt cheap vacation, though. There's no reason to!
“To whom much is given, much is expected.” Luke 12:48
